Why Painting?
While earning a degree in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento, Steve Stiles worked as an intern for a painting company. He then moved quickly up their corporate ladder, exceeding management’s expectations at every role, to become full-time Vice President in charge of all production and sales. He produced more than $8 million worth of painting projects and managing over 50 employees.
Dissatisfied with the level of service from that company, Steve partnered with two previous colleagues and become the Sales Manager for MoonDance Painting. He soon purchased the company from those colleagues in 2005 and expanded it to cover the Greater Bay Area, covering counties from San Francisco to Sonoma, Alameda to Solano.
Meet the MoonDance Painting Team
While Steve has over 15 years of painting experience, our employees collectively have over 100 years of expertise in painting houses and commercial properties. In addition, we have completed over 2,000 projects since we unwrapped our brushes and rolled out our drop cloths. Everyone who works with us has been vetted, and our company is fully bonded and insured. Our team includes: Mike, Project Manager – James, Crew Chief – Nancy, Colorist – Alfonso, Nazario, Jose and Giovani, Lead Painters – and a fantastic crew of painters and a support team who manage our office.
Our Estimating Process is Not Like the Others
Because there are a myriad of ambiguities in painting, the differences between bids could be thousands of dollars. For this reason, we will not provide an estimate unless we can meet at your property for 60 – 90 minutes to get a full review of the project and make sure we understand exactly what you need. During this walk-through of the area of your project, we will discuss colors, our painting process, your needs, and more. Then we will present a simple contract for your consideration. If you would prefer to speak to our colorist, she could come to your home for a separate fee. This step, time and again, has relieved hours of stress for our clients.
We’re More Than a Bay Area Green Business
We were the first certified green painting company in California; today, we take it one step further.We have now pioneered ways to recycle a majority of the painting products and materials we use. Also, we have found better ways to dispose of jobsite waste. As a business, we believe we have an obligation to serve not only our clients, but also our community.

One of the reasons we started MoonDance Painting was to take a more active role where we work and live. That’s why we conduct charity painting projects for community organizations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
