Meet Our Founder
Steve Stiles has over 15 years of experience in the painting industry, and his focus on customer service has shaped how we work.
Steve began as an intern for a painting company while attending California State University in Sacramento. He continued to move up in the company, soon becoming their Vice President of all production and sales. Once he reached this point, though, he grew dissatisfied and their customer service.
“While I enjoyed the work, I wanted to build a company that truly served the customer. This led to opening MoonDance Painting with two colleagues, and I’m proud of how our team fulfills this vision.”
Soon after opening MoonDance Painting, he purchased the company from his colleagues and expanded its reach. Today, we serve the Greater Bay Area, including San Francisco, San Rafael, Sonoma, Alameda, and Solano.
Building an Experienced Home Painting Team
Our team has more than 100 combined years of experience in home painting. Since Steve began MoonDance Painting, we’ve completed over 2,000 projects throughout San Rafael and its surrounding areas.
This experience means that we have likely worked in your neighborhood, and know the needs of each area. For example, older homes with lead paint need very specific containment procedures to ensure that you and your family don’t get sick.

We’ve found that painting your home well involves too many variables to offer online or phone estimates. Instead, we come to your home to see the project in person. This estimating process takes 60-90 minutes, during which we’ll discuss colors, our process, and any special considerations.
Choosing your paint colors is perhaps the most important step, but it can be a challenging one. This is why we’ve hired a Colorist. Her experience lies in taking your inspiration and special requirements and creating a cohesive color palette for your home.
For an additional fee, she will work to blend your aesthetic and practical needs to create a space that you and your family will love.
